The new IP 69K-rated W4S-3 INOX Photoelectric Sensors have been field tested to withstand harsh wash down environments in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, solar and semiconductor industries. As part of SICK’s IP 69K product offering, these stainless steel sensors are ideal for environments that require stringent cleaning procedures. Unlike other sensors, where food or other particles can become lodged in small grooves or crevices, the W4S-3 INOX has a completely smooth housing design that reduces the places for bacteria to grow. In addition to their exterior design, these high-performance sensors use SICK’s third generation custom ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) that incorporates OES3 technology to provide exceptional background and foreground suppression at an extended range. The OES3 chip contains proprietary technology that enables the W4S-3 INOX to ignore stray background reflections, detect multi-colored/shiny objects, and provide high immunity to ambient light.
Packaging Applications
• W4S-3 INOX sensors are able to detect different colored objects and ignore shiny targets outside their switching point due to precise background suppression.
Pharmaceutical Applications
• W4S-3 INOX sensors can detect small tablets or transparent bottles and withstand the harsh cleaning agents typically used in the industry (hydrogen peroxide).
Food and beverage
• OES3 technology allows the W4S-3 INOX to detect multi-colored and shiny objects without losing its signal. The stainless steel housing makes the sensor corrosion-resistant to the liquids used in filling lines (e.g., orange juice, soda, cleaning agents, etc.).
Solar industry
• The W4S-3 INOX can detect the presence of a solar cell because of its superior optical performance and ability to withstand the cleaning agents typically used in the industry (acetic acid).
